Adventure is out there and “The Future Belongs to Those Who Believe In The Beauty of Their Own Dreams”- Eleanor Roosevelt

As I ponder your future reflecting on Pre-K year you are probably thinking about water guns, the pool and having no school for a few months. Your mind is always thinking and learning and growing. You my sweet boy never cease to amaze me.

My child is my world. At this age I dote on everything he does, learns, conquers and even fails. I am that Mom who wants the best for him and I want to hang on to these young years as long as I can. Time is a thief and I won’t even realize as it slips away.

my son is an adventure

So my son is embarking on his Pre-K graduation in a matter of weeks and it’s a wonderful and sad time. I look forward to it and dread it all at once. I never get this time back and I am not silly enough to think that I do. These emotions are hard. I know I am not the only “Mama” who is facing this. This is mainly because I never get him back this size but also because he has become his own person and began his own journey this year. He has overcome obstacles, made friends and learned so much. Already conquering and changing the world, not just mine.

His smile is beautiful, his spirit is adventurous and he is my boy. He loves all things dirty, he is routine, he clings to what is comfortable but he is also learning to try new things and embrace the unknown.

My son is an adventure. You Mama can do this! You can enjoy yours child’s adventure and look forward to his next chapter at the same time. Just treasure these times. Hold on to this time together, he needs me now but that will slowly fade and again I won’t even realize it.

conquering obstacles and embracing life

Mama as you watch your son or daughter strive for new goals this year I want to give you a few fantastic “us time” ideas. No matter if you are conquering riding a bicycle, reading or just playing incorporate these ideas in and I will forever promise that you will not regret this time!

I encourage you to take the time and make this happen! You only get that smiling face once at this age and stage of life. Enjoy it NOW! Find the adventure.

making it happen! Ideas to last a lifetime

  1. Paint- My son and I share Mommy and Me time painting. We paint in the house, on the porch, in the yard etc. We enjoy this time, I am sure I enjoy it even more than he does. I love the special slow time and pace it brings into our lives. Painting and being artistic is possibly one of his favorite. Other than being present in the moment and getting materials ready a lot is not required of me. I love watching his little mind create his own world. I am going to drop you a link here for the art easel we use of course an Amazon purchase but I easily put it together, it has a roll of art paper that pulls down and tightens over the dry/erase board and also a chalk board on the opposite side (so we play school.) It’s educational and fun! It comes with three tubs that sit perfectly underneath the boards and also includes your plastic paint cans. It really is just the best little thing we have kept and used over the years. So here is your link, now get started making memories!

2. Outdoor Activities- Yes this one is simple and vague but it’s also for you to fill in the blanks with what you love to do as a family We hunt bugs, turtles, worms and even butterflies. He plays cars in the mud, we swing, we play in our sandbox, we ride bikes and we love to go walking. We build forts, we make traps, we play hot wheels and we love dinosaurs and playing Park Ranger Kason. We love cabin time and warm weather to swim in. Outdoor Family. It just lifts our spirits and brightens our day. I could give you a great many ideas but this one is simple and its cheap but so effective for catching everything! It’s also Melissa & Doug (we love their toys) so here is your link, don’t forget to take advantage of the free things in life. Believe it or not your child will appreciate it.

3. Play Games- Also another simple one but so very many possibilities. While we love board games we also love tic tac toe and we love water games outside and I Spy Games. You don’t have to limit this one, the sky is the limit! You just make it happen. A few ideas are matching card games, hungry hungry hippo, water twister and even two play video game fun. This is just time to spend together and fully enjoy having your child. We are some lucky Mamas! Here is you a link to the twister water game, please try this one! And to make it even more special get together with your Mama group and their children this makes for extra special memories.

simple but complete

So while I am enjoying encouraging my son to do anything he wants to do, I will also be enjoying these ideas I have listed above. Parenting is not for the weak, but it is also not meant to be boring. Keep your child active and imaginative. Let wild adventure guide them. They will be glad you did later!

Help them enjoy Pre-K ending and a new adventure beginning. Let them know they can do anything in life they want to do, they are never limited. Mama you keep it simple but keep it complete and not a moment wasted with regret. Love your babies with all you have, after all we have been given their love.

XOXO-Shanna Marie
